I started playing
music in 1974, at a ripe age of 13 years old, with some guys that I went to school with. We started a band when I was in Jr. high. We played rock n roll with a little country thrown in sometimes. By the late 70's we had changed to the outlaw kind of country (Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Hank Jr.). After a few changes we finally became known as showdown. Three of the guys I played with in Showdown are now in the Gone Country Band. one of the others lives in New Jersey and doesn't play music anymore that I know of. Then there is me. In the early 80's I played with a country group called "Frisco". We had a few original tunes that went pretty well. After some of the guys dropped out do to personal reasons we broke up. After this I did not play for 5 years. Through all of this I played Bass Guitar. I did not start playing on 6 strings until I got the call from Bradley, you know the rest of the story. I must say, I have had a blast the past few years. It means a lot when you are with as good of friends as we all are. Bradley and I go back along way. He is like a brother to me, I consider him a real brother. Tim and I are as good of friends as it gets, like a brother also. Tim, Bradley and I are the three amigos. I've know Wally (my little brother) along time also, Wally has grown a lot over the years. David or Odie as he is known to us, and I played in Frisco together he is really a great guy, he keeps us all on our toes. If he would just turn his damn amp down. Aaron I have known for 3 years, he is one of the best drummers I've had the privilege to play with. He is rapidly becoming one of us. Playing "Classic Rock N Roll" is what makes me happy the most. I would like to thank all of the guys for the past years, they have been great. Lets ride this thing till it lays down and dies .... its been a hell of a ride so far. I would also like to thank my kids Jerry Jodi, and Jenny for all of their support and putting up with my bull for so long. Thanks, Darrel (Red SG)
